Why I Started RoofDog: A Roofer With a Bigger Purpose

"I wanted to build something that didn't just make money — I wanted to build something that made a difference."
When I started RoofDog, I already had a successful business in another industry. Life was good — but something was missing. I wanted to create something that gave me real conviction. Something that made me feel proud at the end of the day — not just because it succeeded, but because it mattered.
I've always loved dogs. And not just any dogs — rescue dogs. The kind of dogs that needed a second chance, a little love, and a safe place to land. So when the idea hit me — to start a roofing company that gives back to no-kill dog shelters — it just clicked.
Still, I'll admit, I hesitated at first. I didn't want people thinking this charitable angle was some disingenuous marketing hook. But the reality is, that couldn't be further from the truth. This mission is personal. So, to really understand why RoofDog exists, you've got to meet the crew that inspired it all.
🐶 Meet the Pack
Foxy Roxy Jones (13 y/o Pomeranian)
Foxy was rescued from a neglectful breeder, and when we first brought her home, she was so sick we had to stay up all night just to make sure she'd pull through. But she did.
Thirteen years later, this little diva still prances around like she owns the place. Proof that love can work miracles.

Knox Jones (10 y/o ShiChi)
A family friend in Arlington once witnessed someone throwing a box of puppies out of a moving car. Three tiny lives. She scooped them up, posted online, and when my wife saw it, she said one sentence that changed everything:
"Go get that baby. Now."
So I did.
And that's how Knox came into our world — a little survivor with a big heart.

Scouty Jones (7 y/o Shih-Tzu Mix – The Dog That Started It All)
Now, I love all my dogs — but Scouty is the one that started everything.
My wife met him at a Humane Tomorrow adoption event at PetSmart. She picked him up, and that was it. He had a bad cherry eye that needed surgery, so we got it fixed, and since then, he's been my shadow and best friend.
Scouty is the reason RoofDog exists — plain and simple.

Stella Jones (3 y/o Morkie)
Stella was rescued from the original family that adopted her. When we picked her up, we instantly knew she completed our little pack. She brought the final balance — sass, sweetness, and sparkle.

🏠 Turning Love Into Legacy
"RoofDog was never about just roofing. It's about proving that business can be built on compassion."
Every roof we install helps fund medical care, food, and safe shelter for dogs waiting on their own forever home. It's not charity — it's a promise. A promise that we can do business the right way and still make a real impact.
So yeah, I may build roofs, but what I'm really building is a bridge between hard work and heart.
When I look at my four dogs curled up together every night — happy, safe, and loved — I'm reminded exactly why I started this.
Here's to strong roofs, wagging tails, and second chances.
