Newer preliminary reports

National Weather Service reports issued after the newest NOAA history in this site. They are listed separately because they are preliminary and can still change.

1 preliminary report near our Austin service cities, newest first

Preliminary NWS hail reports via Iowa Environmental Mesonet, Iowa State University. Hail observed from Jul 13, 2026, 12:00 AM CDT up to, but not including, Nov 2, 2026, 6:00 PM CST by the NWS FWD and EWX offices. Checked November 3, 2026. Not refreshed automatically. IEM terms and disclaimer

Preliminary reports can be corrected and are not yet part of NOAA’s official history. They are listed separately and are never merged with NOAA records.

  • Coverage note: The two archive requests cover different windows. Only hail observed in both is kept: from Jul 13, 2026, 12:00 AM CDT up to, but not including, Nov 2, 2026, 6:00 PM CST.
  • Coverage note: NOAA history on this site includes hail events dated through July 12, 2026. Preliminary reports start with hail observed Jul 13, 2026, 12:00 AM CDT. NOAA can still add events to its newest months, so a report near that date may be in neither source.

One hail report at one recorded point. It is not a storm footprint and does not show whether any specific roof was damaged or whether a claim is covered.

Read the field report

How to read storm evidence

Two kinds of evidence. Neither proves damage.

Reported observation

A person, spotter or app user reported hail of a stated size at a recorded place and time, later logged by NOAA. It describes one point, not everywhere the storm went.

Radar estimate

Weather radar can estimate the largest likely hail size over an area. It is a model, not a measured stone, and gaps in radar coverage are unknown, never “zero hail”.

Only a hands-on roof inspection can document actual damage. Whether a policy covers it is decided by your insurer under your policy terms.

Documented findings

Know what’s actually on your roof

A free inspection gives you photos and written findings on the condition of your roof. We don’t negotiate claims on your behalf and can’t promise what any policy will cover.
